PREA Hotlines

VIA LINK provides the Prison Rape Elimination Act Hotline for Orleans Parish Prison, and is available to contract with facilities throughout the country

The Law

The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) is a federal law that was enacted in 2003.  It was created to eliminate sexual assault in America’s prisons, juvenile detention facilities and immigration detention centers. These facilities are required to offer an independent third party hotline for reporting.  VIA LINK provides this service to sheriff departments and other agencies on a contractual basis.

Professional Services for Correctional Facilities and Inmates

One resource that PREA requires is a hotline that gives inmates an external, confidential source where they can report sexual assault or harassment. When contracted, VIA LINK will dedicate a phone number for that facility which can be accessed 24/7 and is available to inmates and their family members that want to report assault within the facility.

For prisons, juvenile detention facilities and immigration detention centers seeking information on contract pricing and more, email Victoria Schwandt at [email protected].
